AUSIB initiated Dr. Vijay K. Dhir – Dean, UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science for U.S.-India educational collaboration with three major educational institutions in India.
January 9, 2014; Washington D.C: The Alliance for US India Business (AUSIB) hosted Dr. Vijay K. Dhir – Dean UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science during his recent visit to India to meet the academic faculties of academic institutions including Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) and Sinhagad College of Engineering. He discussed research initiatives and opportunities for both faculties and students of these institutions to UCLA with the senior members of these institutions.
Dr. Dhir held discussions with Dr. TP Singh – Director and other senior members of the faculty at Symbiosis Institute of Technology. He interacted with Dr. Vishwanath Karad – Founder and Director General, MIT and heads of departments from MIT. He met Mr. Rohit Navale – Vice President, Sinhagad College of Engineering and senior members of the faculty. In all these interactions, Dr. Dhir stressed the relevance of potential partnerships with these institutions for faculty-exchange programs and joint-online courses. He also shared that going forward students from these colleges can complete their online courses and attend a quarter at UCLA.
Mr. Sanjay Puri – Chairman, AUSIB applauded Dr. Dhir’s initiative and said, “This is the stepping stone to further joint academic partnerships in future. This marks a new beginning to tap the tremendous potential of Indian academic institutions. AUSIB will closely work with Dr. Vijay K. Dhir in this initiative to make it a success.”
Dr. Dhir signed a generic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sinhagad College of Engineering. He expressed interest to initiate academic activities including faculty training programs and online courses for students from UCLA.
