In order to develop a sound database of higher education with burgeoning growth in the sector, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has initiated an All India Survey on Higher Education. Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Dr. D. Purandeswari informed Lok Sabha.

A Task Force has been constituted under the chairmanship of the then Additional Secretary (HE), MHRD with representatives from University` Grants Commission, All India Council for Technical Education, Medical Council of India, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA), National Statistical Commission, Central Statistics Office, University of Delhi, Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University, University of Mumbai, Distance Education Council, Indira Gandhi National Open University, National Informatics Centre, representatives of State Higher Education Departments of Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Assam with Deputy Director General (MHRD) as the Member Secretary.

However, no reforms are proposed based on the inputs received so far from the survey.
