AUSIB- US Delegation meeting

Dr. James Mancuso
Spoke on why it is important, to identify and work with the Indian medical schools backed by the government. The delegation is here to visit military and civilian medical facilities and work for mutual collaboration in tropical diseases research and vaccination.

Col. Dr. Edwin Burkett
He is the Director of the Global Health Program and is a vital cog in the Medical Delegation. He specifically mentioned about the need to collaborate more on the fronts of medical facilities and student exchange programs. Despite the fact that the delegation is in India to empower military medical units, the civilian institutions and foreign services will get a big boost in the days to come.

Gerald V Quinnan
Gerald is an expert in Internal medicine with specialty in adult infections and diseases. His role in this delegation is pivotal owing to the fact that he has done his research in virology, vaccination and Global Health program. He mentioned about the need to upgrade the educational system to accommodate foreign delegation to participate in the medical academic curriculum designed in respective nations. He emphasized on the prospects of future visits to India that will derive the inspiration and impetus to deliver long term goals based on this visit.

THAKOR G. PATEL
A Nephrologist by specialization, Dr. Patel served the United States Navy for 23 years. He briefed the AUSIB team on the potential aspirations related to the medical research in the field of Tropical Diseases. He pressed hard on the idea of creating a world-class research Centre to train Indian and US students and doctors. It would benefit the general citizens as well as the military units and humanitarian officials who serve in countries inflicted with tropical diseases.

MARK D. EVANS
His role is the key in the progressive Department of Defense (DoD) program that eyes India as the hottest destination to create a state-of-the-art medical facility to study and treat tropical diseases and infections. The briefing suggested on how DoD USA is looking forward to align ground-breaking projects with Indian defense units like AFMC(Armed Forces Medical College). The visit to the AFMC in Pune is a welcome step and definitely spells prosperity for the region that has earned its name as a leading Educational hub in Asia.

Dr. RAHUL JINDAL
Dr. Rahul M. Jindal is a top-notch Transplant Surgeon at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and Professor of Surgery. He is also closely associated with the Global Health at Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, Bethesda. He is currently leading the US Medical Delegation team to India and has worked cohesively to make National Blood and Bone Marrow Drive Campaign a runaway success. In the briefing to AUSIB, Dr. Jindal prompted at the close proximity of medical delegation to the Indian causes. He admitted that the US medical delegation is committed to make India a living example of Medical Research Centre. He is willing to empanel leading Indian medical institutions and Medical Colleges to support the research foundation related to Tropical Diseases and Humanitarian causes.
