January 7, Washington D.C.: The Alliance for U.S. India Business (AUSIB) welcomes the five-member delegation from the U.S., led by Senator Mark Warner who will be on a five-day visit to India starting today and conclude on January 14. The other members include Senators Tom Udall and Michael Bennet, and Representatives Cedric Richmond and Joseph Crowley. During their tour, they will cover cities such as New Delhi, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. They will discuss business, trade, and defense.

Mr. Sanjay Puri, President, AUSIB expressed his pleasure stating, “This visit will set the stage for a new paradigm of U.S.-India relationship. We hope that this strategic partnership would introduce new channels relating to business and trade between the two countries. We would also be able to address defense-related concerns and take the way forward."

The delegation, among several events will also attend a National Basketball Association (NBA) sponsored camp in New Delhi; a new partnership agreement between the Virginia Community College System and the Wadhwani Foundation (an NGO); and the Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) Partnership Summit in Hyderabad.

They will also be the first American Congressional delegation to visit West Bengal after 34 years. Among the highlights of their visit, they will confer with their Indian counterparts on India’s work on education and the steps it has taken towards water sanitation, food hygiene, child health, and nutrition. Investment opportunities on areas such as security, energy, biotech, and information technology will also remain their priority. Further Senator Warner and nine other senators wrote to President Obama to introduce a Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) with India to encourage and promote bilateral investment from American firms to India and their legal protection.
